GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 have been included in the top 100 video games of all time list, as expected. Several of Rockstar Games’ titles are routinely included in gamers’ personal top video games of all time list. How does this translate to a chart of the best 100 games of all time decided by a group of developers (including some from Rockstar), journalists, content creators and more? Well, we’re here to share the results of whereabouts a few games from Rockstar Games placed.
How the list worked
According to GQ magazine who put this all together, each of the three hundred people asked to participate gave their top 10 games of all time. First place would receive ten points all the way descending to tenth place getting a single point. The scored were totalled up and that presented the 100 ranks. GQ say of the 239 lists they got back, 652 games were included. The overall winner with most votes also claimed first place on more individual lists than any other game.
Where did Rockstar’s games rank?
The company had four games make it into this top 100 rating. The lowest down in the ranking is Grand Theft Auto IV in 91st position. GTA IV this low down might not sit right with many GTA fans! Its predecessor, GTA III, is much higher up the list in 61st place which is interesting considering many would think GTA 4 would have been above Grand Theft Auto III.
Sticking with the GTA series, we have the fifth mainline instalment, GTA V. It slotted in at 48th position so just over half way. This probably was expected by many but the highest of any Rockstar Games project is Red Dead Redemption II. It hit 15th place missing out to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild which took the crown. Quite apt timing with the release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on Friday.
