GTA San Andreas just received a new downloadable update which may indicate the game being included as part of your GTA+ subscription.
The update was made to the mobile version of the game for Android and iOS and community members have been hard at work digging through the files. Some interesting discoveries have been made.
First reported by @NationalPepper on Twitter, an update was released on June 7th by Rockstar Games for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas on Android. The iOS version got its update on June 27th. Pepper notes the backend of the game has been completely redone which raises eyebrows if they already were not.
National Pepper decided to look through the files and found some curious tidbits. As you can see in the image below, there are several placeholder images. Logos for Max Payne, GTA Chinatown Wars, Liberty City Stories and Bully are included.

We can also see an image titled “background” and the image is the GTA V screenshot that came with the announcement of GTA+ last year.

Connection to GTA Online survey
Back in November 2022, Rockstar Games sent out a survey to some GTA Online players regarding GTA+. Two new offers were presented: instant fast travel around the map of the game and “Free Access to Classic Rockstar Titles”.
Given the GTA+ background is now in the files of GTA SA on mobile, this indicates Rockstar are certainly looking into adding the mobile versions to GTA+.
Another thing spotted in the files by the community are references to a “LEGACYUPGRADE”. NationalPepper states “There will be a text asking “Already bought [game] on mobile?” By clicking on it you will have to fill a form providing a proof of purchase and it will somehow unlock the game…. or an update.”
It is unclear if GTA+ members will get free access to the classic GTA games on mobile at this time but we’ll update you if Rockstar confirm anything. The games currently cost around $4.99 on iOS and Android, the cost of GTA+ for 1 month.
If you want to play these games on mobile, it seems like an alright deal given the GTA Online perks also included but we will just have to wait and see.

Classic game remasters on mobile?
The current versions of the classic GTA games are several years old now. Rockstar announced the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition would come to mobile in 2022 but was delayed. It has not had a firm release date and the studio has not mentioned it since its delay.
The only public acknowledgment of the project has been in Take2’s quarterly financial reports stating the game’s release date is “To be announced”.
This was listed as recent as May this year. Perhaps the remasters may tie into the GTA+ subscription but this is just speculation at this point.
