The long-awaited next-gen upgrade for GTA V and GTA Online on PC is about to be playable. As the release date fast approaches, Rockstar Games have begun pre-loading of GTA V Enhanced.
Almost 5 years after being announced, Rockstar Games will release this new iteration of GTA V on Tuesday 4th March. It is free for all owners of GTA V on the Rockstar Games Launcher, Steam and Epic Games Store.
Pre-load Begins
If you own a copy of GTA V on PC, you can go ahead and pre-load it right now much like Rockstar’s other titles or new GTA Online updates on PlayStation. Just pick your PC storefront and start downloading. At the time of writing, pre-loading is only available on the Rockstar Games Launcher and Steam.
It comes in at around 90GB in size and requires an SSD. This size similar to the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of the game. It currently unknown what time you’ll be able to start playing GTA V Enhanced on PC.
New artwork can be found on the Rockstar Games Launcher such as the cover with the “Enhanced” text to differentiate it from the old version.
The old version has been renamed to GTA V Legacy whereas the new one is titled GTA V Enhanced. There is no crossplay between both versions and Rockstar will continue to support the original version with updates too. Take-Two’s CEO also suggested they will keep serving GTA V/GTA Online players even after GTA 6 comes out.
You can also migrate your save data from the old GTA V PC version to GTA V Enhanced. Here’s a guide on how to do it.
GTA V Enhanced features a wealth of new graphics options including raytraced global illumination, shadows and more. Plus, new cars, GTA+, animals in the wildness and much, much more are all part of this edition. Does anyone know where to obtain the Enhanced edition? It is not in my RGL library nor on Steam. Only GTA V Legacy is available on both Steam and RGL, and checking both stores only pops up Legacy edition or pay $29.99 for GTA V premium edition.. which I’m pretty sure is still the Legacy edition.
