The usual and reliable GTA Online Event Week has been hit with a few issues this week. Rockstar Games have had to make updates to either fix or just scrub mentions of parts of the event from their website.
Whilst a single mistake or bug does occur from time to time in the usual Thursday tunable changes, this current Event Week has a few bits going against it. In this article we’ll be taking a look at everything that has gone wrong and how Rockstar have dealt with the situation. Some of the events have left a few fans disappointed.
Month Long Cooldown
Whilst the current Event Week (April 3rd through 9th) is nothing huge, it did have a headline addition of Peyote Plants. Fans enjoy using these to transform into animals and just have a bit of fun. Rockstar typically brings them back into GTA Online a couple of times a year so not super often. The last time they were in was back in May last year so almost 12 months ago.
Originally, all Peyote plants would respawn 48 minutes of real time after consumption. This was then changed as part of the Bottom Dollar Bounties update last year. Since then, each Peyote Plant location has a 48 minute cooldown. When the latest Event Week kicked off on Thursday fans rushed to consume one only to find out Peyote’s were not respawning after 48 minutes.

As spotted by Tez2, Rockstar seemingly made a big typo. The tunable value for VC_PEYOTE_COOLDOWN should be set to 2880 seconds, 48 minutes. However, Rockstar set it to 2880000 seconds which is 33 days… This means all players who consumed a Peyote plant at that point would not see the ones they took respawn. They were also blocked from consuming any of the others.
Thankfully, Rockstar Games acted upon this within a few hours. The cooldown value was changed to be 48 minutes on Friday. However, players who had already experienced a trip would have to wait for a background update. Rockstar did release a background update on Monday but as per the patch notes from Tez below, there was no fix for the Peyote Plants.
- Fixed an issue where the Fully Stocked award would reset after subsequent playthroughs of Oscar Guzman Flies Again.
- Fixed an issue where equipment stolen during the Oscar Guzman Flies Again setup missions would persist in subsequent playthroughs.
- Fixed an issue where the ‘Mr. Right’ Outfit would not unlock after meeting its criteria.
Inactive Discount
The next issue is a discount that was not made available despite Rockstar Games announced it. In an email sent out to select GTA fan pages on Wednesday, the Pfister Comet S2 was included as part of the 30% discounts. Rockstar even included the car in the list of discounts on their Newswire article. Despite this no discount has even been applied.
Removed Reward

Furthermore, a previously announced reward has also been removed from this Event Week. In the same email sent out to GTA fan pages early, Rockstar stated if you “complete any three Races” you would “receive the Dark Manor Racing Suit and GTA$200,000 within 72 hours of completion”.
Fans were surprised you only had to take part in 3 races so that’s exactly what many did. The $200k was gifted but not the suit. When Rockstar put out their Newswire it only said “Completing any 3 Races this week will get you a GTA$200,000 bonus, delivered within 72 hours.” This of course contradicts what they sent out to GTA fan pages the night before. Whilst this sort of occurrence is extremely rare, Rockstar do note in their emails to the creators that the contents is subject to change.
There’s not much harm in these issues but it is interesting to see a few happen all at once including the major typo. What do you think about all of these occurrences this week? Let us know down in the comments section below.

Meanwhile, in Red Dead Online event month, it doesn’t seem the Civil War battlefield treasure map is being distributed after making Cripps’ special stew.
Seems there may be some focus elsewhere perhaps? VI…….? I mean I’m willing to help over there if you guys need it.
