GTA III Remaster On Mobile Joins GTA+

The GTA III Definitive Edition on mobile has entered GTA+. Rockstar Games announced the move on Thursday with the new GTA+ month that kicked off on the day. This comes just a day after it was spotted to be free to own on iOS devices. This is the latest of several Rockstar Games classics that can be played through GTA+.

Mistakes Were Made

We reported how the iOS version of GTA III Definitive Edition was showing up as free to own instead of $19.99 for everyone on Wednesday. This was an error and was resolved a few hours after it blew up on social media. It appears that if anyone claimed the game on Wednesday when it was free, they still have access to the full game even after the update was made to add it to GTA+.

This mistake came from Rockstar preparing it to be part of the GTA+ subscription service. So, if this happens again to any of Rockstar’s other titles on mobile we could speculate they will be added to GTA+ not too long afterwards.

Now In GTA+

For quite some time now, GTA+ members have been able to enjoy the full GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition on their PS5 or Xbox Series X|S if they had an active subscription. However, subscribers can now check out GTA III’s mobile port on their iOS and Android devices.

The app no longer costs $19.99 and anyone can download it. However, upon launching you’ll be asked to either pay $19.99 or sign into a Rockstar Games account with an active GTA+ membership. There is a 30 minute free trial for everyone which is enough time to get started in Liberty City.

Released in late 2021 to much criticism, the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition was a disaster on consoles. Then after 2 years of delays, the mobile ports made by Rockstar Australia (Formerly Video Game Deluxe) released to much joy from fans. They fixed many of the longstanding issues. Those improvements then made their way to the console and PC versions last year.

In terms of what other games GTA+ has on offer, it contains a mix of console and mobile versions across Rockstar’s catalog. As mentioned before, there is the full GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition on consoles, plus mobile versions of Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, Chinatown Wars and Bully. Red Dead Redemption, L.A. Noire and Bully are also all available to be enjoyed on PlayStation or Xbox Series X|S.

In other GTA III news, fans ported the game over to its originally intended platform: the SEGA Dreamcast. Check out the incredible work done on it here.
