A long running joke is that GTA’s Los Santos has people knowing how to get around LA due to its rough re-creation of the city. However, it is not always a joke. Some people have been able to travel the city with a rough idea of where some places are.
In a recent interview with GetFootballNewsFrance, 2018 World Cup winner Hugo Lloris shared how GTA gave him an idea of what Los Angeles would be like before he moved there.
The French goalkeeper recently left Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur after over a decade there. His new club is LAFC which is younger than his spell in London. Now he’s putting his GTA experience to use as he moves to the West Coast.
He played so much GTA that it helped
Lloris talks to GetFootballNewsFrance about how the cities compare. “In terms of population, it seems to get bigger with every move, but I think we’ll stop here. The film industry, Dr. Dre, GTA..“
He then goes onto say “I played this game so much on the Playstation that I had the impression that I knew all the landmarks of the city without having been here.”
Whilst some fans on social media have been quick to credit GTA San Andreas or GTA V to this, the goalkeeper doesn’t specify which Grand Theft Auto game he’s on about though. Both games are entirely possible given his age of 37.
Although GTA V’s Los Santos map is far closer to real life LA than GTA San Andreas. From the pier to the sign and hills, San Andreas has been many fans’ second home for many years now.
GTA 6 will no doubt do the same with Miami for players. We’ve already reported on a fan from the city that recreated several shots from the GTA VI trailer. This new iteration of Vice City is set to be a huge change over the original as it closely resembles Miami and its surrounding areas. We can already get an idea of what the state map will look like and how it compares to GTA V’s here.
