The new GTA 6 trailer features a certain asset from GTA V which was also an iconic part of that game’s story. This has led to fans speculating whether the two games are connected beyond just being set in the same universe. Plus, Ned Luke who played Michael in GTA V has given his input.
Firstly, let’s take a look at this asset and where it is in the trailer. At the start of GTA 6 Trailer 2 there’s a shot looking down from Jason’s house during his conversation with Brian. On the right hand side we can see a boat.

This is not a brand totally new boat model but rather one seen across several GTA games including V. There are some slight differences compared to the GTA V version. Mostly in the paint job but it still has blue stripes. Overall, model is the same albeit a higher quality asset.
Michael’s Boat In GTA VI?
Spotted by GTA content creator TGG on Twitter, it is the the same Marquis boat model, as owned by Michael De Santa in GTA V. Not only was it owned by him but was main part of the Father/Son mission in Story Mode. The yacht was stolen and you playing as Michael have to chase after it with Franklin.
Unfortunately, Michael’s car breaks down before recovering it is possible. De Santa never got his boat back in the GTA V story. Actor Ned Luke who plays Michael posted a video of himself driving a boat last year. In the video he said after 11 years he finally got his boat back and the post went viral.

Fan Theories
Fans are now hoping Jason’s boat is the exact one stolen from Michael. Some want Jason to be the one who stole it all those years ago whilst others would prefer it to be less on the nose and more like someone else stole it and he has since come into its possession.
Ned Luke responded to TGG’s Tweet on the boat seen in the trailer saying “I’m coming Jason…for my boat”. Is this Michael’s exact boat in GTA VI? Let us know your thoughts down in the comments section below.
Another fun connection was found in the trailer to a previous Rockstar Games title: Red Dead Redemption 2. The presidents in that game can be seen in the second GTA VI trailer leading fans to believing more in the share universe theory. Learn more about it here.
If you’re looking for more video footage of GTA VI, Rockstar shared several clips including some at 60FPS. You can watch them all here.

It would make sense to ship the boat down to Vice City. Might be cool to see Michael again, just to see what his character looks like in this new world! A leak last year confirmed many missions, weapons, side missions, and other things that will be ingame, a leak last year said Michael will be making a short return, making his movie in GTA 6.
