GTA 6 Can Now Be Added To Your Xbox Wishlist

Aaron TruemanBy Aaron TruemanJune 25, 2025
Two video game covers for Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) are displayed side-by-side. The cover on the left is for PlayStation 5 (PS5). The cover on the right is for Xbox Series X. Both covers show the same artwork: two characters, a man and a woman, sitting on the hood of a car with a sunset, palm trees, and a cityscape in the background. The game's logo, "Grand Theft Auto VI", is prominently displayed on both covers. Both also include "Coming 2025". The background is the beach and skyline of Vice City.

After several weeks of waiting, fans can wishlist GTA 6 on Xbox Series X|S and take a look at its store page. Just mere hours after GTA VI Trailer 2 released, Rockstar Games set the PlayStation Store listing for the game live allowing for the game to be wishlisted on PS5. Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar’s parent company, said that Xbox wishlisting would be available “soon”. It did take 7 weeks but at least it is finally here for those on Xbox.

With update to GTA VI has made Xbox gamers feel like this game is actually real and one step closer to getting in their hands.

On Wednesday morning, Rockstar Games released the GTA 6 Xbox Store page listing. This can be viewed in the store on both Xbox consoles and the website. The store page features the illustrative artwork released alongside the second trailer, screenshots, both trailers and a game description.

How To Wishlist GTA 6 On Xbox

Grand Theft Auto VI Xbox Store listing with an image of the two main characters, Lucia and Jason, standing in front of a Vice City backdrop with palm trees and skyscrapers. Jason, a male character, is on the right, holding a pistol and wearing a blue open shirt over a white tank top. Lucia, a female character, is to his left, with her hair tied back, wearing a green tank top. The image is a screenshot from a digital storefront, with text "Grand Theft Auto VI", "Rockstar Games", "Action & adventure", and "Recently released" visible. A "NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE" button and "Add to Wish list" option are displayed. The game is rated "PEGI 18 PROVISIONAL".

The purchase button on the product listing is greyed out and reads “Not Currently Available” but the other button, the wishlist one, does work. Pressing it adds the game to your Xbox wishlist. It is as simple as that.

How To Install It / Download Size?

There is a download size on the listing of 328.76mb. However, that is purely the placeholder file. This is the usual size for the pre-load/pre-order placeholder file.

You are able to download the 328.76mb file to your console right now via the Xbox app. Visit the game’s store page on the Xbox app and if you have linked your console to the app you’ll have the option to install it. You can see images of it being downloaded and installed to Xbox Series X|S below.

A screenshot of a game console's "Manage Queue" screen, showing games that are "Recently installed" and "Installing". Under "Recently installed," several game tiles are visible, including "RE:MATCH," "THE LONG DARK," "THE DIVISION 2," "MINECRAFT," "FOR HONOR," "BATTLEGROUNDS," "OUTLAWS," and "FIREBREAK." Under "Installing," there's a progress bar for "Grand Theft Auto VI," which shows "Ready to start" and "Finishing things up..." with the progress at "100.0%." The game's cover art featuring Lucia and Jason is displayed next to the progress bar. "PAUSE ALL" and "CANCEL ALL" buttons are also visible.
A screenshot from a Xbox's "Manage Grand Theft Auto VI" screen, displaying information about the game's installation. On the right, a highlighted section shows the Grand Theft Auto VI cover art featuring Lucia and Jason, with details "Grand Theft Auto VI," "Game installed on Internal storage," "328.8 MB," and "Version 0.0.0.1." On the left, options include "See in Microsoft Store" and "Uninstall all." Below the game details are sections for "Updates" and "Saved data," which shows "0 items" and "0.0 KB."

This file remain as it is until pre-loading begins. Then the file will automatically download the full game as soon as pre-loading starts in the days before launch.

Attempting to open the game by pressing the “Play” button will show the Trailer 2 artwork for a brief few seconds before closing the game and giving you a popup. The popup is an error saying “Do you own this game or app?” You’ll have to wait until May 26th to play. You can see the opening and splash screen in action below.

There is no time listed on the store for when the game will go live currently. On the PlayStation store, it states the game will be playable at 12am BST which we reported here.

    Pre-orders Soon?

Usually, when a game has a release date confirmed, pre-orders will open on the digital console stores. But that is not the case with GTA VI. It is down to the publisher of the game afterall to turn it on. Given we are still around a year, it makes sense.

There will still be some marketing to come, perhaps in the form of a third trailer, over the course of the next 12 months. They will want to make a big splash with pre-orders. Perhaps we’ll see something on this near the end of the year.

Have you wishlisted GTA VI on Xbox? Let us know down in the comments section below. In other GTA 6 news, Drake might have his own radio station in the game where he can upload his own, unreleased music according to a fellow artist. We’ve also got a look at the likely cast playing the characters confirmed so far in the game here.
