GTA 6 developers who Rockstar Games fired last year are asking fans who have said they’ll boycott the game to not do that. Instead, they have provided an alternative way of help.
In a video posted to their social media pages, the Rockstar Game Workers Union (RGWU) said fans should support them and their colleagues who still work at Rockstar by not boycotting the game.
Due to Rockstar’s treatment of dozens of staff in the past year, plenty of gamers on social media have stated they’d stand in solidarity with those affected by not picking up the game. Developers in the video explicitly say “don’t boycott GTA VI.”
“We spent years pouring our hard work, skill, and creativity into making GTA. We want people to experience the universe we helped build. That does not mean we want you to let Rockstar off the hook.”
A better financial way to support those affected by Rockstar is to order a Solidarity T-Shirt. This Rockstar-themed item is up for pre-order and costs £25. There are a number of other clothing items and pins up for grabs. All proceeds from the t-shirts, which are ethically made and designed by the union, will go towards the fired Rockstar workers’ legal funds. Check everything out here. In recent weeks, the Rockstar Game Workers Union had their first meeting with Rockstar Games management. This comes after the group have now officially become the largest game studio union in Europe. Members of the union include the few dozen who were fired last year plus hundreds of current Rockstar Games staff.
