A Rockstar Games developer who worked on many of their big games has revealed what he thinks will be an interesting part of GTA 6. It’s very rare we get such an insight into what it was like to work at Rockstar but also what the games look like from the perspective from someone who has worked on these gigantic games.
Rob Carr is an audio designer who worked at Rockstar Games for a number of years. He worked on several games such as GTA V, Red Dead Redemption 2 and L.A. Noire and the first Red Dead Redemption. Recently, the developer spoke with KIWI TALKZ, a YouTube channel that interviews game developers about their experience in the industry.
The interview covered a wide range of topics from what it was like to work for Rockstar Games and the state of the games industry. Despite having an impressive portfolio working on some of the greatest games ever, Carr has been unemployed for over a year now due to the poor time period that gaming finds itself in.
What We’ll See In GTA 6

Whilst the audio designer left Rockstar before GTA VI started development, he explains what he thinks we will see. This is based on his experience seeing how Rockstar takes from past projects and into new ones. For example, the Three Leaf Clover mission from GTA IV ended up being the blueprint for GTA V’s three playable protagonists.
Carr explains how he knows there are many things the team did not get around to doing in GTA V which could make their way into GTA VI.
“I’m really, really quite keen to see what they do because there will be things in GTA 5 that they will have in GTA 6 that you look at and go, we should have seen that coming. That was oh man, that’s really clever.
And there is things for sure I feel that they did in GTA 5 that they will definitely want to expand on and use as either a core mechanic or a main plot point or something in GTA 6. I’d be incredibly surprised if they don’t do anything like that. I’d be very, very surprised. I’ll be surprised if they don’t use something from Red Dead 2.”
Be sure to watch the full interview with the audio designer here as it is full of more Rockstar Games and development stories.
KIWI TALKZ has also interviewed other Rockstar Games developers prior to this one. Most recently, an environment artist who worked on GTA 6 discussed how the game changes over time and what it was like to work at Rockstar during GTA 6. Check it out here.
Plus, we reported on how another developer revealed the bad parts of Rockstar’s culture back in the day. On top of that, a different developer discussed a canned combat overhaul for GTA V. You can read all about it here.
