The CEO of Rockstar’s parent company, Take-Two Interactive, has been interviewed over GTA 6 and the future of gaming. This follows Take-Two’s recent earnings reports issued to investors. We’ll be going through the most interesting comments made by TTI’s CEO Strauss Zelnick in two interviews this week.
Predicting GTA 6 releases in 2024?
On Monday, Zelnick made a TV appearance during CNBC’s Squawk Box show. He was quizzed over a variety of topics such as the Microsoft and Activision Blizzard King merger as well as AI in gaming. The first question asked by the host was about GTA 6 speculation.
Take-Two claim they can hit more than $8 billion in revenue next year which led to many fans speculating this is due to GTA 6. The host mentioned this to Strauss. He dodged answering when GTA 6 will come out by saying “We said we’re working on the next iteration of Grand Theft Auto but Rockstar haven’t announced a release date yet.”

He goes into say Take-Two have 36 titles in development and they want to be transparent about how much Take-Two will make over the next 24 months. Zelnick was asked why he is so sure about this success.
He claims they “have a pretty good ability to predict the performance of new iterations of existing franchises”. The host interjected with “like Grand Theft Auto?” and Zelnick let out a chuckle before diverting to other franchises they own. You can watch the full CNBC interview here.
Rockstar’s bar for GTA 6
Another interview has aired with Strauss this week. Aarthi and Sriram is a podcast that interviews CEOs about their lives and Mr Zelnick appeared on their latest episode.

As noted by Tweaktown, Zelnick states iterating to push the franchise forward whilst maintaining its legacy is “a challenge that the folks that Rockstar face every time there’s a new iteration of Grand Theft Auto. It needs to be something you’ve never seen before on the one hand, and it needs to reflect the feeling that we have about Grand Theft Auto. That’s a big challenge for the team.”
Adding to that, Zelnick says Rockstar Games’ answer to that is to “just seek perfection; seek nothing short of perfection, and we’ll get there.” Of course no game is perfect and it is a very ambitious goal. We’ve seen Rockstar aim for this in the past so its not surprising this is once again their target with GTA VI. You can listen to the full podcast here.
