Rockstar Games have announced this evening that they will no longer be supporting Windows 7 and Windows 8 from January 2024.

Posted on the Rockstar Support website confirming that from January 30th 2024 they will cease support for users playing any Rockstar Games title on Windows 7 and Windows 8 due to Microsoft also ending support of these operating systems back in 2020 (Windows 7) and in 2021 (Windows 8)

Rockstar Support have advised players to that are using Windows 7 & Windows 8 to upgrade their operating systems which they support such as Windows 10 and Windows 11, as any games from Rockstar games may not work after the end of January.

Which games will and wont work?

If you own any Games on the Rockstar Games Launcher and use Windows 7 or Windows 8, they will no longer be playable until you upgrade your operating system.

Players who own any Rockstar Games titles on Steam, these also wont be playable or will have major interruptions to the gameplay as Steam is ending support for Windows 7 and Windows 8 from January 1st 2024 If you own any Rockstar Games Titles on Disc then they be playable as usual.

You can check if your PC is compatible with the latest Windows 11 here.

Question: What does the end of Microsoft’s support for Windows 7 and 8 mean for my Rockstar Games titles on PC?

Answer: In light of Microsoft’s end of support for Windows 7 and Windows 8 operating systems, Rockstar Games will no longer officially support these operating systems beginning January 30, 2024.

To prevent any future interruptions of service and ensure continued access to the latest platform features, we recommend Windows 7 and 8 users upgrade to a supported operating system as soon as possible.

For more information see the Microsoft end of Windows 7 support (January 14, 2020) and end of Windows 8 support (January 10, 2023):
