Following our report last month showing evidence that Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition will be available on Steam soon, Rockstar Games have pushed a new update to their launcher to support this. Despite being exclusive on PC through the Rockstar Games Launcher since its initial release over a year ago, gamers will be able to get the remastered trilogy on two new platforms of their choice, Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Code revealed
Rockstar’s own launcher received an update today which displays Epic Games Store support for the names of three packages, “gta3unreal”, “gtavsunreal” and “gtasaunreal”. Unreal is the engine these remasters run on. The Steam ID’s for all three with their full and proper names were also listed under the Steam section.
Last hope?
The hope within the community is that a major update to fix bugs and correct mistakes with Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition will come alongside the release of the set on Steam and the Epic Games Store. It would make sense for Rockstar whom have taken over development of the project would want to make a better impression as the game will be purchasable in more storefronts. Knowing the codebase has changed, significant improvements have been requested by the community even as expectations and hope dwindles. It would be a good end to the year if these remasters do get some of the love they deserve.
As for the mobile version of the GTA trilogy remasters, Take-Two announced during the last conference call the company had pushed back the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy’s release for iOS and Android devices into the first half of 2023.
