Release Date For Next-Gen GTA Online Update For PC Hinted At By Rockstar Games

Rockstar Games may have dropped yet another hint when the next-gen GTA Online update for PC is coming out. This time it is not just a time frame but rather a specific date and it is not too far away. We’ll take a look at what this date Rockstar have added is and why it is significant.

Firstly, a quick refresher. It has been a few months since Rockstar confirmed they would be bringing the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S content to PC in “the new year”. Since then, they’ve been quiet publicly. Though we did report on a survey they sent out last week which seemed to suggest the enhanced PC version would drop within 3 months.

    GTA+ Gives It Away?

Fast forward to this week and a new GTA+ month began in GTA Online. Typically, GTA+ months start at 9:30am GMT on Thursdays, last a month, then end on a Thursday morning as a new one starts. However, Rockstar sometimes deviates from this cadence when there is a new content update or big dripfeed content released.

This appears to be happening with the current GTA+ month. It ends on the morning of March 4th which is a Tuesday, not a Thursday. There’s no big GTA Online DLC coming out in March so it either for the PC next-gen update or dripfeed content for Agents of Sabotage in the form of the Oscar Guzman Flies Again missions.

Rockstar Games insider Tez2 suggests it could mean either of those things but also raises a good point. The Cluckin’ Bell Farm Raid which you class as the same sort of content as Oscar Guzman Flies Again was released on a Thursday; March 7th 2024. You’d have thought the Oscar Guzman Flies Again from Agents of Sabotage would come on a Thursday too. Tez calls that choice “odd” but possible.

When you add the fact GTA+ will be one of the main pieces of content coming to this new PC version and a new month will be starting, it is easy to speculate this is when PC will finally catch up.

Tez also picked up that the Newswire from Rockstar about the new GTA+ month mentions new or old Gunrunners getting quad money and RP. He said “This might mean nothing, but Gunrunner is one of the four criminal careers, a Gen9 feature/thing. The timing seems a bit odd, unless the February 27 event is going to offer bonuses for all criminal careers in preparation for PC Gen9, with GTA+ members receiving 4x rewards due to the event bonus stacking.”

That said, if there are any changes Rockstar needs to make, we could see a delay and an extension of the GTA+ month which we’ve seen them to with new updates.
