Rockstar Games co-founder Dan Houser has just revealed his first book complete with details, cover art and a release date. It is the first installment in a series on one of the new franchises he’s created since leaving the iconic company he helped create. Alongside several other Rockstar Games veterans, Houser formed multimedia company Absurd Ventures who are working on games, books, podcasts and more.
First Details
Houser was the lead writer on over 20 video games including most of the GTA and Red Dead Redemption games but now he is putting out a book called: A BETTER PARADISE Volume One: An Aftermath.
It is based on the A Better Paradise IP he created recently. So far, we’ve only seen it as a podcast which starred Andrew Lincoln as the protagonist Mark Tyburn. The book adapts the podcast revealing more details on the Tyburn Utopias video game project.

According to a press release the debut novel scribed by Houser will be published by Absurd Ventures Press simultaneously in print, eBook and audiobook on Tuesday October 14th with distribution in the US and UK by Simon & Schuster. It is 464 pages long and comes in hardback copies.
Dan Houser Speaks
Dan Houser issued a rare statement alongside the press release:
“At its heart, this is a mythological story about video game development. I have always felt this is fascinating source material for narrative fiction and am finally getting the opportunity to explore it with A Better Paradise Volume One: An Aftermath.” – Dan Houser
The press release explains that A BETTER PARADISE Volume One: An Aftermath is set in the new feature and will tell readers a story “of the ill-fated development of an ambitious but addictive video game project that goes very wrong. As the software they developed starts to produce unexpected and disturbing results, the project is shut down and left abandoned and undiscovered. Until now.”
