Rockstar Games website gets updated and Social Club is rebranded

The Rockstar Games and the Rockstar Social Club websites have been updated with a new look to be more integrated. Launched on Monday, the studio behind Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption have issued some changes ahead of the GTA 6 trailer.

There also appears to be a rebrand of the Rockstar Games Social Club.

The end of Rockstar Social Club?

Many community members have noticed a lot of references to Rockstar Social Club on their website have been removed. Some text that used to say Rockstar Social Club now reads Rockstar Games Platform. Select webpages still have the Social Club logo on so seems like the rebrand has not been fully completed at this time.

New Integration

The Rockstar Games Platform formerly known as Rockstar Social Club can now be accessed via the Rockstar Games website. Your Rockstar Games account and data is now present within the main game pages. You can view your progression, character and more via this drop down menu.

New Search

The search bar has received some changes. Chips have now been added to it to filter your search down to games, posts, videos, and community. The community chip has a dropdown for users, crews, jobs, user photos, and user videos.

New Menu

Clicking the Rockstar Games logo in the top left corner now reveals a drop down menu. This has three options: Home, Games and Newswire.

Home is self explanatory, Games is the list of all titles from Rockstar and Newswire takes you to their famous blog.

New Social Club member milestone

As spotted by Tez2, Rockstar Games have provided an updated amount of Rockstar Social Club accounts there are. Previously, if you were signed out and attempted to visit Rockstar Social Club it would say “Join over 100 million members”. This has now been changed to “over 200 million members”. The changes comes after GTA V closes in on 200 million copies sold worldwide with the recently reported figure at 190 million.

Why has Rockstar done this?

It’s not surprising Rockstar Games have begun preparing for GTA 6’s reveal. When GTA V’s trailer was revealed, the countdown was an iconic part of their website in the run up to the trailer’s release.

How Rockstar Games will handle GTA 6’s trailer release is currently unknown aside from it is coming in “early December”.

Fans are speculating the next Grand Theft Auto game will have its own page once it has been revealed, much like its predecessors.

What do you think of these updated website features? The integration of Social Club on the Rockstar Games website is quite the overdue addition. It brings everything into one and is a great central place for all Rockstar Games titles. It will be interesting to see how Rockstar Games use their rebranded Social Club for the next iteration in the Grand Theft Auto Series.
