We’re not even into the release year of GTA 6 and it is still winning awards including a category for the second year in a row.
GTA V was arguably the most anticipated game of all time but GTA 6 is certainly that now on a whole new level. Just by general feeling amongst gamers and Rockstar’s parent company saying it themselves, the release is shaping up to be the biggest of all time.
GTA 6 Wins, Obviously
On Thursday, Grand Theft Auto VI won the “Most Wanted” award in the Golden Joystick Awards 2025. This awards show is voted for by fans and is in its 43rd year of running. This is the second year in a row it has won having won it last year.
It achieved 18% of the vote out of 20 different games. The list contained Resident Evil Requiem, The Witcher 4 (which was just behind with 16%), 007 First Light and more.
That’s not all. Grand Theft Auto VI won the “Best Game Trailer” award also. This was probably to be expected too. It beat out the Battlefield 6: Official Launch Live Action Trailer, The Expanse: Osiris Reborn Announcement Trailer and more. It won with 42% of the vote with second place getting 27%.
Unfortunately, no one was present at the awards ceremony from Rockstar to accept the award on behalf of the company. This is different compared to last year where an employee took to the stage and called GTA 6 “mind-blowing“.
In just a few weeks time, Rockstar could also win the Most Anticipated Game at The Game Awards which is a more popular event. It was announced this week it’s in the running for a second year in a row.
