We’re not even into the release year that Rockstar Games are targeting with GTA 6 and it is still winning awards. Rockstar Games took to the stage on Thursday to accept yet another trophy for its endless collection before Trailer 2 for GTA 6 has even been teased. Many fans are speculating a trailer is imminent but for now there is nothing but Rockstar winning awards and remaining silent.

GTA V was arguably the most anticipated game of all time but GTA 6 is certainly that now on a whole new level. Just by general feeling amongst gamers and Rockstar’s parent company saying it themselves, the release is shaping up to be the biggest of all time.

    Rockstar wins, obviously

On Thursday, Rockstar Games won the “Most Wanted” award in the Golden Joystick Awards 2024. This awards show is voted for by fans and is in its 42nd year of running.

Rockstar’s latest entry in the Grand Theft Auto series beat out other games that have a big community around them. The list included Monster Hunter Wilds, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, Civilisation VII, Hollow Knight Silksong, Fable, DOOM: The Dark Ages, Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Ghost of Yōtei. Even though some of these games are going to be popular, nothing will come close to GTA VI.

Rockstar Games thank fans and tease what’s next

One of the developers from Rockstar Games was at the ceremony in person to accept the award on behalf of the entire company. He said “Thank you so much for this incredible award. Also a massive thank you to all the fans. Obviously without their support, they are the most important thing for us and they mean a lot to us at Rockstar. There’s an incredible amount of people doing amazing things on Grand Theft Auto 6. Absolutely mind-blowing things so it’s a real honour to be able to come up here and accept this award on everyone’s behalf. I wish more of us could be here. Thank you very much everybody and more to come. Thank you.”

In just a few weeks time, Rockstar could also win the same award but in The Game Awards which is a more popular event. It was announced this week it’s in the running for “Most Anticipated Game” alongside Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, Ghost of Yōtei, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, and Monster Hunter Wilds.
