GTA 6 Pre-Orders Could Open Soon As Rockstar Prepares Store

Aaron TruemanBy Aaron TruemanMarch 1, 2026 GTA 6
Two video game covers for Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) are displayed side-by-side. The cover on the left is for PlayStation 5 (PS5). The cover on the right is for Xbox Series X. Both covers show the same artwork: two characters, a man and a woman, sitting on the hood of a car with a sunset, palm trees, and a cityscape in the background. The game's logo, "Grand Theft Auto VI", is prominently displayed on both covers. Both also include "Coming 2025". The background is the beach and skyline of Vice City.

Rockstar Games are seemingly preparing to launch pre-orders for GTA 6. That’s according to a highly knowledgeable source. It has been a long wait for fans who have been wanting to throw their money at Rockstar’s store listing on PlayStation and Xbox but the company has still not kicked off this marketing beat. Now we might not be too far away.

So far, fans have only been able to wishlist the game on both PlayStation and Xbox. It has routinely been the most wishlisted game every week or so on PlayStation since wishlisting began back with Trailer 2 last May. Expect pre-orders to also take the most purchased crown across both platforms.

So why may pre-orders be happening soon? Well, Grand Theft Auto VI title IDs were just added to the PlayStation Store database backend according Twitter account @PlaystationSize. For those unaware about this account, they have a rock-solid track record when it comes to releasing info from the PlayStation Store database. New updates, download sizes, game details, pre-orders and more have all been found first by this person.

In a Tweet, the account says “I expect we’ll see something about the game soon, probably the start of pre-orders.” Someone asked the account how long typically do we have to wait from seeing these IDs popping up to prices and pre-orders going live. PlayStationSize responded by saying “To be honest, it completely depends on the publisher, and it’s not something I know for sure. But I don’t think there’s going to be a long wait.” Fans are holding their breath if the game will cost $70 or not.

Just last month, Take-Two confirmed the marketing campaign will truly kick off in summer this year. It is possible pre-orders will open soon before a gap until the big “astonishing” marketing blitz worldwide. Later last year, the GTA VI store page was updated to feature a GTA+ ad.

Of course, if there are any updates on GTA VI pre-orders, we’ll cover every detail right here at RockstarINTEL. In other recent GTA VI news, a couple of artists have teased their work in the game. Learn more here.
