The long awaited GTA 6 Game Informer cover story is here. We have brand new details on the game’s advanced weather systems and more directly from senior Rockstar Games designers. Let’s take a look at the most important new bits of info from the 14-page cover story found inside of Game Informer issue 382.
Weather System Info
As per Game Informer, GTA VI features a brand new re-engineered, localised and persistent weather system based on what we saw in Red Dead Redemption 2. It is not the same but rather an evolution.
There’s a big emphasis on rain. For example, it can create rainbows, persistent puddles and wet surfaces will remain long after a storm has concluded. Tropical storms and hurricanes are confirmed too.
Speaking of wind, Rockstar have crafted a new wind system that provides offshore breezes, convectional updrafts and wind occlusion from buildings to affect hair, debris, water surfaces and vegetation. One part of the map you are not in may have torrential rain whilst where you, the player, are is sunny. Furthermore, there is the dynamic clouds we saw from Red Dead 2 moving across Leonida and to help generate different weather conditions and lighting.

Map Size And Details
Leonida is Rockstar’s biggest map yet. Art Director Aaron Garbut says GTA VI’s map it’s about twice the size of GTA V’s map, with far more detail, density, interaction, and interiors. Confirmed activities include:
