Leslie Benzies, the former Rockstar North President, who departed the company in 2016 has raised almost $41 Million for hos Gaming studio ‘Build a Rocket Boy.’
The Former President, Leslie Benzies is planning to launch an Open World Sci-Fi game called ‘Everywhere.’ The recent funding of $40.8 Million, or ยฃ32 Million has come from Cryptocurrency Investor ‘Galaxy Interactive’ and ‘Netease Makers.’
Leslie Benzies was known for working on almost every single game Rockstar Games have ever release, joining the company in 1995 when it was known as DMA Design, working on every Grand Theft Auto title, and even saved Rockstar San Diego when they went into chaos with the Production of Red Dead Redemption.
Benzies left Rockstar in 2016 after taking 18 Months of sabbatical leave. leaving with bad blood between him, Rockstar Games, and Take-Two Interactive.
in late 2016 Benzies started legal action against Rockstar and Take-Two for $150 Million in unpaid royalties. The courts dismissed 15 out of 18 of his claims.
Take-Two and Rockstar Games later came to an agreement with Benzies and paid him an undisclosed amount.
After all this in later 2018, Rockstar Games then threatened to sue Leslie Benzies because his company ‘Build a Rockstar Boy Games’ was previously called ‘Royal Circus Games’ and the initials ‘RCG’ was too similar to Rockstar Games initials ‘RSG.’
We cant wait to see what Benzies and the team at ‘Build a Rocket Boy’ are creating and it’s great to see they have extra funding on top of the court settlement to help them produce something that will hopefully turn out to be a masterpiece.
