Classic GTA Games Get Unexpected Update On Mobile

Classic GTA games have just received unexpected updates for their mobile ports. These ports were released around a decade ago on iOS and Android. Despite how old they are and the release of the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition on mobile last year, the original versions are still available to purchase. Rockstar Games are also still supporting them with bug fixes and stability improvements and they’ve shared some vague patch notes.

The games that received updates on iOS and Android in the past few days are GTA San Andreas, GTA Chinatown Wars, and GTA Liberty City Stories. The latter two are included with GTA+, the GTA Online subscription service. That might be a main reason for updates.

More and more people are checking out these games with more modern devices so Rockstar may have found some issues that need fixing. Same goes for GTA San Andreas even though this specific version it is not part of GTA+.

The other games included in GTA+ are L.A. Noire, Red Dead Redemption, and the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition. Bully will also be joining the service later this year.

    Vague Patch Notes

As for patch notes, Rockstar Support updated their articles with vague patch notes for the different games. Below are the patch notes for each title:

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Mobile Title Update Notes (Android/iOS)

    [July 2, 2024] – Android v2.11.229 / iOS v2024.0621.1548

    • Bug fixes and improvements
Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories Mobile Title Update Notes (Android/iOS)

    [July 2, 2024] – Android v4.4.187 / iOS v2024.0621.1426

    • Bug fixes and improvements
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars Mobile Title Update Notes (Android/iOS)

    [July 2, 2024] – iOS 4.5.7

    • General fixes and improvements.

It was revealed last month that the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition mobile versions through Netflix have been downloaded over 30 million times since launch. You can learn more with a cool breakdown of numbers here.
