Rockstar Games co-founder and former lead writer behind GTA, Red Dead Redemption and more, Dan Houser has just revealed details on the fabled GTA V Story DLC.
In a new, unprecedented interview, Dan Houser spoke at length about his work with podcaster Lex Fridman. The visionary shared a lot of inside info about Rockstar Games and the development of their games. This also included projects they never ended up finishing.
Secret Agent Trevor
Houser was asked by Fridman if there were any DLCs for GTA or Red Dead Redemption he wished they’d been able to do. Dan was quick to say “of course! There’s always things I wished I’d done.”
In an interesting admission, Houser says “the internet knows” about how Rockstar were developing a “cute” Story Mode DLC all about Trevor being a secret agent.
The writer did give us a bit more info on the canned Trevor DLC. It was “about half done” which is roughly what we expected based on leaks. Dan also mentioned this DLC just “never quite came together.”

I like story DLC. I think the audience loves it. It’s really fun to make.
Furthermore, Rockstar’s co-founder believes that if they had finished the DLC, they “wouldn’t have got to make Red Dead 2”. To many, this is is very fair trade.
I like making the stories. For me, I like the model of GTA IV when you had the extra stories coming afterwards. Or with Red Dead 1 with the zombie pack afterwards. I like doing these extra things. So personally, I’d like to have done more of that in that company.
Another idea he wanted was a GTA zombie DLC much like Undead Nightmare. The fans have been asking for this since GTA V came out. However, that concept was “never really worked on” according to Dan. He thinks “it would have been funny. It would have been quite fun.”
Are you glad we got Red Dead 2 over this DLC? Let us know in the comments. Stay tuned to RockstarINTEL for news updates on Absurd Ventures and everything Rockstar Games.
