An alternative cut of the GTA 6 launch trailer has begun airing on TV. Following its release last week, Rockstar Games have begun promoting the trailer across different forms of media. It started with online ads found within social media feeds but now they’ve gone to a more traditional medium.
During last night’s NBC broadcast of the NBA match between the Philadelphia 76ers and the New York Knicks, Rockstar aired the launch trailer. It took place in a commercial break as you’d expect and an eagle eyed fan caught a couple of differences between the one that we’ve seen online and the TV version.
Lorenzo Jordan published a recording of the trailer from TV and we can see some changes. Firstly, there was a longer version of the clip showing Raul Bautista dancing after the first shower scene. This was followed by the footage of Lucia jumping onto the plane landing gear.
The following scene where Jason nudges Lucia was also extended very briefly. We see her fall down near to the floor for longer. In the online version of the trailer, this is followed by Jason and Lucia kissing the shower. The TV version had this part completely removed as is the short moment of Lucia’s ankle tag.
Another clip that was extended was Jason attempting to get a knife after being put into a chokehold. Roxy of Real Dimez also has a very, very brief extension of her dancing clip. You can watch the alternative cut below:
A shorter, 60 second spot has also been doing the rounds. It cuts out a few opening scenes and of course those mentioned above.
In other news, rumours of a live action GTA VI trailer have gone wild but here’s the real story.
