Almost 12 years after GTA V’s release, fans have restored cut content left behind by Rockstar Games relating to the Mount Chiliad mystery and aliens in an underground bunker. It is even complete with a laboratory. This means you can now actually explore the underground location Rockstar never released in the full game.
How This Came About
Back in April, we reported on how a beta version of GTA V dated a few months before its release leaked. Curious members of the community dug into the files of the pre-launch build and were able discover differences to the final game but also cut content files.
These files include a different ending and a top secret military bunker featuring aliens relating to the Mount Chiliad mystery. We were able to get an idea of what the bunker looked like and such but that was not enough for some.
Several community members took it upon themselves to restore the unfinished bunker located below Fort Zancudo. According to one of the modders, Antasurris, this whole project was extremely complicated to pull off.
This is a significant milestone in GTA V modding because it uses the leaked PS3 beta files through reverse engineering by Transmet. It allows for the first time PS3 GTA V files being used on PC.

Unfinished Business
There are a few minor changes from the original version in this mod. Why? Antasurris explains in a GTA forums post the original files can’t just be ported to be PC as they are “pretty much unusable”.
This is because there’s basically no lighting, many models are broken or unfinished, object collision is broken, few available textures and more. Even the doors were inoperable. It just is not a good experience to play. Afterall, it is content Rockstar never actually completed. Sound and lighting has been added by the modders to give it some atmosphere.
“The version presented here is therefore not just a simple conversion (which would be factually unplayable), but an updated, fixed, and “completed” version that stays true to the original spirit.” – Black Project: Zancudo Facility mod description
Antasurris says himself that the bunker’s interior is more of a quick “mockup” made by Rockstar rather than the complete item as they intended. Assets have been reused from other areas of the game for placeholders.

“The goal with this mod was to make this leftover piece at least coherent and explorable in-game, while staying as true as possible to its original look and the ideas behind it back then.” – Antasurris
An example given for his theory is the hangar part of the bunker. It makes use of models, textures and even the same layout from Humane Labs. That said, the work done by the modding team allows for an authentic experience in the bunker that is still worth checking out.
This is the closest you are going to get. The dissection lab and main corridor have more detail and work put into them in comparison to the rest of the bunker.
As for the alien tube room, the 2 of the 3 aliens inside are in an a-pose and cannot be changed. The tanks in which the aliens are stored in are unfinished. On top of that, the entire room is empty aside from the tanks holding the aliens. The modders speculate this room was never meant to be enterable by the player. Below are screenshots of what it looks like unfinished and in the mod.

“There’s no sign that this interior was ever meant to appear in a playable mission in this state.” – Antasurris
