Red Dead Redemption 2‘s iconic soundtrack has transcended the game itself. It has just been used as the walkout song for a wrestling world champion.
On November 22nd, the All Elite Wrestling (AEW) Full Gear pay-per-view event took place in Newark, New Jersey. The headliner of the event was a Steel Cage match for the AEW World Championship. The title was held by “Hangman” Adam Page and the challenger was Samoa Joe. Either Hangman would keep wearing his belt or Joe would be the new champion.
Ahead of the match, Hangman’s walkout music was different to the typical Ghost Town Triumph and this surprised fans. The wrestler walked out to American Venom by Woody Jackson. This is the iconic piece of music that plays during the end of Red Dead Redemption 2 as John Marston is hunting down Micah Bell. Hangman’s branding and identity uses a cowboy theme.
Despite the in-person crowd not reacting to it the way some would expect, a fair amount of Red Dead Redemption fans were happy this entrance. They shared their love for it on social media.
“So the coolest thing about Hangman using this incredible theme during Full Gear is that it played at the start of his last match during his second world title run. Meanwhile this theme was introduced to us at the start of the last gunfight of the second Red Dead Redemption. Incredible detail of foreshadowing!” – @Mattview72

However, there were plenty expressing their dislike for the music being used and calls for it to be reverted back to Ghost Town Triumph. This was likely a one-off usage of American Venom so these AEW fans shouldn’t be too worried about American Venom being played again.
Unfortunately for Hangman fans, they witnessed him losing to Samoa Joe following this. You can watch the full walkout courtesy of AEW on their social media pages such as Twitter.
