Tonight, Take-Two Interactive have released their quarterly earnings report hosted a conference call with investors for Q1 2023. They discussed how many copies their games sold, a small update on GTA 6 and GTA+ growth details. In the last 3 months, GTA V has sold a huge amount again and Red Dead Redemption 2 has continued to sell copies as well.
Grand Theft Auto V reaches 170m copies sold
Take-Two Interactive revealed that Grand Theft Auto V sold another 5 million copies in the last 3 Months, taking the total sales worldwide at nearly 170 million copies up from 165m in May. Grand Theft Auto V normally sells an average of 5 Million every Month so it is neither slowing down or selling faster.
This now takes the total sales of the Grand Theft Auto series to 380 million copies worldwide which is insane.
GTA+ is a hit with GTA Online players
Take Two Interactive’s CEO Strauss Zelnick stated in the conference call the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S version of GTA Online grew over 40% in the last quarter. The microtransaction purchase rate of next gen players is 36% higher than PS4, PC and Xbox One users. He also said GTA+ saw consistent growth since launch.
The GTA Online player base is now 49% higher than it was pre-pandemic in 2020.
GTA 6 to set new benchmarks say Take Two.
Strauss Zelnick said that “development is well underway” on the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto Series. He went onto say the teams at Rockstar Games are “determined to set creative benchmarks for the series, industry and entertainment”.
Red Dead Redemption 2 hits 45m copies sold
Red Dead Redemption 2 sold an extra million copies in the last 3 months, which is the same as the last quarter. This means Red Dead Redemption 2 has now sold over 45 million copies worldwide. In total the Red Dead Series has now sold over 68 Million copies.
GTA Trilogy The definitive Edition
Earlier this year, the GTA Trilogy for Mobile was delayed until fiscal year 2023. Meaning it will release between now and March 2023. According to Take Two’s report this quarter, it is still on track to release by March 2023 at this time.
