Rockstar quietly reduce GTA Online payouts, fans unhappy with changes

Rockstar Games have quietly reduced the effectiveness on a few fan favourite ways to make money and RP in GTA Online. Absent from the patch notes for the summer update titled San Andreas Mercenaries, it has been revealed the company have nerfed some values in the game that will significantly impact how much you can make in a moment of time.

This information comes from reliable community insider Tez2 who noticed the changes in GTA Online this week following the update’s release.

Whilst Rockstar Games release extensive patch notes for all updates, sometimes they do not share occasional changes. This could be for a few reasons. The changes might be missed off on accident, on purpose or are unintended changes. These untended changes are fixed in a later update. For example, one good change not mentioned in the recent patch notes was a fix to the random probability of your auto shop mechanic delivering the serviced car to the customer undamaged.

    The silent changes

Unfortunately it is not all good news. As briefly mentioned above, some ways to make money just got more difficult. Payphone hits have been become a well-liked addition since their release. However, Rockstar have increased the cooldown to 48 minutes. These are real world minutes.

In terms of earning RP for your GTA Online character, the random event Smuggler Plane has had its RP reward nerfed by quite an amount. It will now give you 2,000 RP down from 25,000 RP previously.

The Aircraft Carrier business battle has also been disabled in the game meaning you cannot take part in it.

Even though aircraft carrier won’t be missed by many, the increased cooldown time for payphone hits has caused a stir in the community. Fans are asking Rockstar Games to bring it back down to its previous time.
