Fans were hoping to get a small update on the Max Payne Remake from Remedy on Tuesday as part of their quarterly update to investors. However, whilst we have heard things about the game in documents for investors in the past, there was almost no update and Remedy shut down questions about it.

On Tuesday morning, the Finnish company published their Financial Report for the first half of 2026. It takes a look back at the previous two quarters and details the most recent business conducted by Remedy.

These financial documents are put out by Remedy as they are a publicly traded company. They inform investors about its current projects and future. Remedy also provide comments about where their games are in the development cycle. Remedy have a few games in various stages of development including the Max Payne 1 & 2 remake.

The company just say this time (much like last time) that the Max Payne 1 & 2 remake is still in full production. It has been at this stage for many, many months. The game has been in development for over 2 years now. Development fees, originating from Max Payne 1&2 remake and CONTROL Resonant were the biggest revenue source for the company.

Following the earnings report, a Q&A was held with investors and press. We attended the webcast and heard how Remedy’s investor relations manager Aapo Kilpinen told the audience that a lot of questions were about the Max Payne Remake. He added “Rockstar Games is handling the publishing side, so we can’t comment on those questions”. Similar wordage was used last quarter. Some fans are speculating Rockstar has made it so Remedy can no longer offer updates on the project based on this. After all, GTA 6 is Rockstar’s focus for now.

If the game takes 2.5 years in full production and testing based on their stage gate process, we could be playing the remakes around Mid-Late 2027. Given Control Resonant is taking pole position for Remedy this year, perhaps resources have been reallocated from the Max Payne project to Resonant too.
