GTA 6 is going to be a blockbuster hit but there are still some negative questions surrounding its release. These have been answered by the top boss of Rockstar Games‘ parent company in a bid to squash concerns.
In a new interview with The Game Business, Take-Two Interactive’s CEO Strauss Zelnick says the company don’t foresee staff leaving Rockstar en masse once Grand Theft Auto VI is complete and out of the door.
Given the project is over and most of the work is done, some would expect Rockstar to have layoffs or staff wanting out from a project that will have taken a better part of a decade to make. We know from Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA V than some staff were burned out from the mandated crunch to finish those games and some staff left.
Conditions at the company have improved since then but there have been growing concerns that traits from the old school have returned in order to get GTA VI out by November 19th.
Zelnick in particular notes “We have a very low attrition rate at Rockstar”. Take-Two as a whole has an “attrition rate is about half that of the industry average”. He even went as far as teasing that Rockstar will “have a lot of work to do after the launch of GTA 6.” This can mean a number of things such as bug fixing patches, GTA Online and a PC version.
“I have no reason to believe that we’ll see any changes on composition of the team here.”
