Rockstar Games co-founder and creative force behind most of the GTA series, Red Dead Redemption and more, Dan Houser, will take part in his first ever on-camera interview this month. Despite pushing boundaries and changing entertainment forever several times, Dan along with his brother Sam have remained out of the spotlight. The duo prefer to let their art do the talking.
They co-founded Rockstar nearly 26 years ago and have amassed a fortune of hundreds of millions of dollars making them some of the richest people in the UK. Dan left his own company in 2020 to start a new multimedia gaming studio along with several other key Rockstar developers. Meanwhile Sam still remains in charge of Rockstar.
IGN announced the big interview news late on Wednesday detailing their monumental moment. It even included a rare statement from Houser himself.
Interview Details

The publication say Houser will speak on a panel called “In Conversation with Dan Houser: Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, and Now American Caper”. IGN’s Senior Executive Editor Ryan McCaffrey will interview Houser on his past work such as GTA but also his upcoming projects at Absurd Ventures.
This will take place at LA Comic Con on Saturday September 27th at 12pm PT. It will run for half an hour. Those in attendance at the event can see the panel in person at the South Hall. Meanwhile everyone else can view it live on IGN’s website.
This interview will feature “exclusive glimpse into American Caper” according to the outlet. American Caper is one of the new IPs created by Houser at his new studio. It was revealed in July that the series will have its first release, a comic book by Houser, out later this year. This is a different IP from others that his two upcoming games are based on. Last month, we learned Absurd secured a publisher for their open world game.
Dan Houser Statement
As we know, the Houser brothers rarely make any public appearance or even a comment so this is a special occasion. He also shared a short statement with IGN ahead of this interview. You can read it below :
“I look forward to speaking about all our upcoming, varied projects at Absurd including our two open world video games, the American Caper comic book series, which is my new take on crime fiction storytelling making its first appearance this fall, and the upcoming novel of A Better Paradise — as well as indulging in a trip down memory lane speaking about the characters and worlds of GTA, Red Dead, Bully and other games that I had the privilege to write and direct over the years.” – Dan Houser
