Rockstar announce GTA Online’s Shark Cards values are changing

In a surprise move affecting GTA Online’s economy, Rockstar Games have announced GTA Online’s Shark Cards values are changing. The both hugely controversial and successful microtransactions are actually gaining some value as per the latest post on the Rockstar Support website. We have the new and updated values of each standard and GTA+ Shark Card plus when these adjustments will go live in GTA Online below.

The post by Rockstar states the updated values will “go into effect on December 9th, 2022.” In addition to this the Red Shark Card will no longer be available to be purchased from this date. “The tables below show the GTA$ value increases for standard Shark Card and GTA+ Shark Card purchases.”

Standard Shark Card Values

Card NamePrevious ValueNew Value
TigerGTA$ 200,000GTA$ 250,000
BullGTA$ 500,000GTA$ 600,000
Great WhiteGTA$ 1,250,000GTA$ 1,500,000
WhaleGTA$ 3,500,000GTA$ 4,250,000
Megalodon SharkGTA$ 8,000,000GTA$ 10,000,000

GTA+ Shark Card Values

Card NamePrevious ValueNew Value
TigerGTA$ 230,000GTA$  287,500
BullGTA$ 575,000GTA$  690,000
Great WhiteGTA$ 1,437,000GTA$ 1,725,000
WhaleGTA$ 4,025,000GTA$ 4,887,500
Megalodon SharkGTA$ 9,200,000GTA$ 11,500,000

Can I still redeem Shark Cards I’ve purchased?

If you’re wondering “can I still redeem the Red Shark Cards I have?” and the answer is yes. Rockstar Games note that “You will be able to redeem Red Shark Cards at their original stated value. Standard Red Shark Cards will continue to have a value of GTA$ 100,000 and GTA+ Red Shark Cards will continue to have a value of GTA$ 115,000 upon redemption.”

What if I see the old values?

Some players may come across the old values for Shark Cards so Rockstar have asked that you “restart the game on your platform to make sure any updates are applied.”

What if I’ve purchased Shark Cards recently, will they get the boosted pay-out?

As for any Shark Cards you buy before the changes are implemented, Rockstar have a good answer for you. Any Shark Card purchases that are redeemed between November 24th 2022 and December 5th 2022 “will have the value difference added to the associated MAZE bank account. Value reconciliations will occur automatically and are expected to be completed by December 9th 2022.”

Some of these Shark Card increases are fairly small but on the more expensive end you are looking at more than a million extra GTA$ for the same cost, at this moment in time. If there are any changes made to the cost of Shark Cards we will keep you updated so stay tuned to RockstarINTEL. You can also check out everything happening in the current GTA+ month here.

Update: Rockstar Support have pulled the article at the time of writing.

Update 2: As of December 6th, you can now purchase the updated Shark Cards via the Rockstar Games Store and Steam.

The Red Shark card has also been removed from all stores including Xbox and PlayStation.

Still isn’t worth buying to this day. In 2014? The megalodon was worth, now? You could burn that on two cars. The Galaxy Super Yacht isn’t worth 100 bucks, people.
