We’ve just got our first look at Red Dead Redemption PS4 and Nintendo Switch physical copies. Ahead of the release on Friday October 13th, some fans have gotten their hands on the re-release for these platforms early.
The physical disc versions of Rockstar Games titles are quite iconic as they’ve featured detailed manuals and map posters. However, Rockstar broke that tradition in their last two releases. In late 2021, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition’s physical release did not include any maps or manuals for the three classics.
Same can be said for GTA V’s PS5 and Xbox Series X|S re-release last year. Both of these incidents disappointed long time fans of the GTA series.
Another disappointing disc copy
Many fans of Red Dead Redemption who were looking forward to picking up the physical copies on their PlayStation or Nintendo console had hoped this re-release included the map.
Unfortunately, that is not the case. A fan called Scatigno has shared a YouTube Short of them receiving the PS4 version a day early. (Thanks for the heads up @videotechx)
Inside you can see all that is included is the game disc that works on PS4, PS4 Pro and the PS5. The disc is very similar to the original disc print for Xbox 360 and PS3 back in 2010.
Switch cartridge revealed
Another Red Dead Redemption RETRO GAME FUTURE have shared a YouTube video of them receiving the Nintendo Switch copy earlier than its street date.
As you can see, it features no paperwork at all and only contains the cartridge. The Switch cartridge has the Red Dead Redemption logo on the sticker with the age rating of 18+.
RETRO GAME FUTURE notes that the game comes complete on the cartridge and that Undead Nightmare is playable without an update.
