Did GTA Online Money Fronts help GTA V climb up the most downloaded PS5 game charts for the month of July? PlayStation’s new charts data has revealed just how popular GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 remains.
In the last two month’s we saw a shock upset with Red Dead Redemption 2. It lost its crown of being the most downloaded game on PlayStation for 5 months in a row to Star Wars Battlefront 2 which held onto top place in June. We’ll be taking a look at how it things went in July below.
GTA V Steadies Downloads
PlayStation shared their monthly game charts this week for PS5, PS4, PSVR and F2P game downloads throughout July. The game was the 3rd most downloaded PS5 game in the USA and Canada plus 4th in Europe. In contrast, it was the 2nd most download game in the US and Canada plus 3rd in Europe for June so it dropped one place in both charts.
A similar story can be seen in the PS4 charts. It was 4th in the US/Canada and 6th in Europe. Meanwhile the month before saw it as the 3rd most downloaded PS4 title in North America and 4th in Europe.
Red Dead Redemption 2 Makes Comeback
Following 5 months in a row as the most downloaded PS4 game in the USA and Canada, Red Dead Redemption 2 lost the top step on the podium in a surprise upset in May and June. Star Wars Battlefront II, which came out a year before RDR2, saw an astronomical resurgence throughout May and June thanks to fans spreading the word about the game.
This caused Red Dead Redemption 2 to remain in 2nd place in both charts for two months. However, Red Dead Redemption 2 is back. It was the most downloaded PS4 game in Europe plus the US/Canada in July.
We also have some sales data coming in for the USA. Red Dead Redemption 2 was the 8th best selling game on PC in May and June. This covers all of the major platforms such as Steam, EA, Ubisoft, Epic Games Store and more. In terms of all platforms including consoles combined, Red Dead Redemption 2 was the 15th best selling game in June. As for the full year, Red Dead Redemption 2 is the 18th best selling game in the US as of the end of June. GTA V remains in 15th position.
