Red Dead Redemption 2 is still coming to Nintendo Switch 2 according to a reporter that spoke with several developers working on the project. We take a look at what has been said about what could be Rockstar’s next release ahead of GTA 6.
For quite some time now, there have been a bunch of rumours and reports of Red Dead Redemption 2 being ported over to Nintendo’s shiny new hybrid console. From some less reliable reports to accurate insiders and outlets, we are still yet to see anything official from Rockstar Games or Nintendo. The latter recently held their biggest ever (that did not feature a hardware reveal) Direct showcase.
Due to this, many fans speculated Rockstar would appear during the event to announce the Switch 2 port of Red Dead Redemption 2. However, the Mario-filled Nintendo Direct ended without any Arthur Morgan. With that, disappointment spread across the community. This felt like it would be the place for the reveal especially if it is coming out this year. We’re closing in on October after all.
A New Hope

All hope is not lost though. Interviewer Reece Reilly aka Kiwi Talkz took to Twitter (currently known as X) to share information he has received. Frequent readers of our site will know Kiwi Talkz as a great place to learn inside information from game developers via in-depth interviews.
Reece has conducted a few with various ex-Rockstar Games developers which we’ve covered here at RockstarINTEL. Meanwhile he has also shared some accurate information himself about Nintendo titles such as Donkey Kong Bananza. Though it is important to note he is not a “leaker” but rather an interviewer. That said, let’s take a look at what he had to say on the Red Dead Redemption 2 Switch 2 port.
Following the big Direct, Reece Tweeted about why Red Dead 2 was not featured in it. As we know, both L.A. Noire and Red Dead Redemption were not unveiled in a Nintendo Direct. Rockstar rarely announce things at showcases. For context, L.A. Noire was announced by Rockstar a few days before the September 2017 Direct. It is all done on their terms. It also costs money to show at a Direct. Would Rockstar Games benefit from that? No.
Reilly goes onto say that Red Dead 2 for Switch is coming. He claims 8 developers have told him they are working on it. That’s plenty of different sources. For now, we’ll just have to wait and see when Rockstar will say anything. He also notes he has not heard anything about a GTA V or GTA VI port for Switch 2.
In other Red Dead and Nintendo news, Rockstar have started using red Switch 2 cases for their standard Switch games. For more Red Dead Redemption news updates, stay tuned to RockstarINTEL.
