A new Red Dead Redemption 2 mod has released which gives John Marston’s Facial animations a complete overhaul to be similar to the original Red Dead Redemption game.
There have been plenty of complaints over the years regarding John Marson in Red Dead Redemption2, from everything from his facial animations not being correct to him having his original hairstyle from Red Dead Redemption 1.
This new mod that released today is called J.M.F.A.O. and it aims to be a complete overhaul of John Marston’s facial animations and giving him a fresh look to be more in line with his character model from Red Dead Redemption 1.
For this mod, all core animations for John Marston now have their own unique look that match each situation in the game, this is rather than having the generic variations of John always having a tired or sad facial expression.
The people behind the mod have also said that Johns aiming, combat and normal moods have all been overhauled massively with this mod. They have also said that John Marston now blinks again and has normal facial movements. (About time)
The team have created these new expressions by taking various cutscenes from Red Dead Redemption 1 and various official Screenshots released by Rockstar Games in the past to try and capture every facial animation in the gameplay and make it feel as seamlessly as possible.
Pointed out by Synth on X (Formerly Twitter), if you combine this new mod, along with the John Marston Restored and Enhanced mod and The Classic Cowboy mod. You will pretty much have the original John Marston that we all loved and cherished back in 2010.
