A brand new mystery has been found in Red Dead Redemption 2 over 7 years on from its release. Fans of the game will know that Rockstar crafted many, many elaborate mysteries within the game and this one is no different. It just has taken the better part of a decade to find and it still might not be full solved.
It was just a few weeks ago that the game’s writer Dan Houser finally gave some answers to the Gavin and Strange Man mysteries. Now we have yet another hunt on our hands which has never, ever been noticed before.
These Spider Webs Were Under Our Noses The Entire Time

This new mystery was first found by community member FL4VA-01 who made a post last month to the r/RedDeadMysteries subreddit. They noticed a spider web appear on a Saint Denis telegraph pole at 3am before disappearing at 4am. These webs are somewhat similar to those found at Mount Chiliad in GTA V.
Following this, a Discord user known as pariah87 located 8 webbed telegraph poles in total and in the game’s files they have the film name “spiderdreams”. Each web will appear at various hours in the night with some overlapping. Some with feathers on the web, others without. They later share that there is a spider carving on a telegraph pole near the Cornwall Kerosene and Tar factory as pictured below.

Using The Game’s Map
Overlaying this engraving onto the in-game map reveals all 8 locations. The legs each end exactly on the spider web location. Evidently, this is no coincidence. It is worth noting all of this mystery can be viewed in both Red Dead Redemption 2’s Story Mode and Red Dead Online so you can check these locations out for yourself however you like.

Shooting Posts
Following this, a 9th web was found by Redditor then2k02. This one can be found in the middle of the spider overlay on the map and is visible at 1am-2am. This central web is much larger and is in a tree. The model has a letter “N” and cross-like shape. This was assumed to mean North Telegraph pole and this was correct. Going directly north from this point to a telegraph pole and shooting it will reveal a carving underneath. The inscription reads ““W +++++”.

Using the marking, moving 5 poles to the left will bring you to another shootable pole. Upon shooting it, the pole will reveal markings for “NW” and a guitar. In Fort Wallace, there are two guitars. This is North West from the pole’s location. Interestingly, the guitar pointing south is also pointing directly at the spider engraved telegraph pole near Cornwall Kerosene and Tar.
This is where the mystery has hit a roadblock. There are some theories parts of the community have which they are working towards. Some argue the aforementioned guitar is not the one we seek for the mystery. Others think both are to point you south west to find something else. Meanwhile there is a theory that the NW + guitar refers to something entirely different to Fort Wallace.
It will be extremely fansicating to see where this ends up leading us. Of course, if there are any significant developments in this story, we’ll be sure to cover it. To keep up to date with everything related to Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead Online, then make sure to check back to RockstarINTEL.
