Sales figures for GTA Vice City Stories have been officially updated by Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive. The information has been unearthed in a way which we should not be too surprised about: Take-Two lawyers being Take-Two lawyers.
Take-Two Interactive begun legal proceedings last month over a newly submitted trademark request “Vice City Subs” by DT Global Investment Holdings. This trademark was for a “sandwich and/or restaurant business”. That’s according to GameFile who took a look at the legal filings.

When putting forward their case to the ownership of “Vice City”, Take-Two’s legal team gave an updated sales figure for the beloved PSP and PS2 game. In the 20 years since release, the game has surpassed 7 million copies.
This is up by 2.5 million copies from the previously reported number in 2008. So it has sold that amount in the past 18 years. That’s a nice increase and total for a non-mainline title in the GTA series. In comparison, GTA Vice City has sold over 17 million since its release in 2002.
As we know, the GTA series has sold over 465 million copies worldwide. Almost half of that comes from GTA V alone. Now we have one of the smaller titles that help add to the overall total number. GameFile previously spotted Japanese GTA Trilogy sales figures. Learn more here.
In other recent GTA Vice City Stories news, modders are working on bringing it to PC to celebrate the game’s 20th anniversary this year. As noted above, it was a PSP game before a PS2 port came out but we currently can’t enjoy it properly on modern platforms. Learn more about the porting effort by a Russian modding team here.
