A brand new update has been released for GTA V by Nvidia to introduce DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation and support the graphics card company announced today. This will almost quadruple frame rates on various graphics cards.
Earlier this year, Rockstar Games released a brand new PC version of GTA V and GTA Online with improved graphics ands new options. From several ray traced effects to support for new upscalers such as DLSS and more, the game has never looked better. Rockstar said back then Multi Frame Generation would come down the line for Nvidia and AMD users. FSR 4 came to the game earlier this summer.
DLSS was a new addition as part of the Enhanced launch but only DLSS 3 was officially implemented. There were workarounds for DLSS 4 but now the fully integrated DLSS suite with Multi Frame Generation (MFG) has arrived.
In a blog post, Nvidia say their latest driver which is version 580.97 brings DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation and DLSS Frame Generation to Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced and a few other games. These DLSS 4 upgrades work on GeForce RTX 50 Series and GeForce RTX 40 Series GPUs.

Game Update Download Size
After the graphics driver released, Rockstar published a downloadable patch for GTA V Enhanced. The latest update comes in at around 1.19GB depending if you play on the Rockstar Games Launcher, Steam or Epic Games Store. It will be downloaded when you sign into your chosen launcher.
How To Turn On DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation
To enable DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation, head to the pause menu and then settings submenu. In the graphics tab, scroll down to Frame Generator and select Nvidia DLSS. If you have a 50 Series card, you can select up to 4x generation but by default it is set to 2x. Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling must be enabled. The “Fullscreen” Screen Type setting is not supported either.

Improvements Revealed
According to Nvidia based on their testing, DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation increases GeForce RTX 50 Series FPS by an average of 3.9X when running the game at 4K, with ray tracing and all other settings maxed out. As for 1440p and 1080p, there is a 3.1X average increase in FPS with DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation. This meets Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced’s 500FPS cap.

It seems strange that this was even needed. GTA V Enhanced runs well on older hardware that can’t even support MFG. 40 and 50 class cards can handle GTA V Enhanced with all the bells and whistles on just fine. MFG works by creating “fake frames” which makes the game appear smoother at the cost of higher input delay.
