GTA Online Money Fronts helped GTA V climb up the most downloaded PS5 game charts for the month of June. PlayStation’s new charts data has revealed just how popular GTA V remains.
Last month we saw a shock upset with Rockstar Games‘ western masterpiece Red Dead Redemption 2. It lost its crown of being the most downloaded game on PlayStation for 5 months in a row. We’ll be taking a look at if it managed to stage a rebellion against Star Wars Battlefront 2.
Money Fronts Almost Puts GTA V In Front
PlayStation shared their monthly game charts this week for PS5, PS4, PSVR and F2P game downloads throughout June. The game was the 2nd most download game in the US and Canada plus 3rd in Europe. This is up from 5th and 4th and makes if a couple continuous months of growth for the game. It only missed out to Death Stranding 2: On The Beach in the North American chart which released in June. In Europe, it missed out to Rematch and EA FC 25.
A similar story can be seen in the PS4 charts. It was the 3rd most downloaded PS4 title in North America and 4th in Europe. This is up from 5th in North America and 6th in Europe.
Red Dead Redemption 2 Can’t Quite Come Back
Following 5 months in a row as the most downloaded PS4 game in the USA and Canada, Red Dead Redemption 2 lost the top step on the podium in a surprise upset last month. Star Wars Battlefront II, which came out a year before RDR2, saw an astronomical resurgence throughout May thanks to fans spreading the word about the game.
That resurgence carried over into June and throughout the month. This caused Red Dead Redemption 2 to remain in 2nd place in both charts for at least another month. It will be interesting to see if it can reclaim the throne in July following the launch of new content which we reported on here.
