In an unexpected announcement on Friday, Rockstar Games have announced a new GTA Online update for December along with a string of details and screenshots. Plus, the company has revealed that they are finally bringing the “Expanded and Enhanced” next gen features found on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S to PC in 2025.
The latest community update from Rockstar comes less than a week before Take-Two Interactive’s earnings report for investors. Many fans had been speculating the second trailer for GTA 6 would be announced any day now. This is due to previous patterns from Rockstar and how close we are to their parent company’s quarterly report. That said, there is no GTA 6 news but some big news for GTA Online.
GTA Online Community Update
Now let’s get into what Rockstar have said in their Newswire post about the state of GTA Online and the next update. They kick it off by thanking players for the “devoted community for another amazing year”. They followed this up by recapping all of the main pieces of content and updates they’ve given us in 2024.
Starting off with a tease “there’s still much more to come…”, the company say the next GTA Online DLC update comes in December. This is not unusual and is expected as the last few years have all had a content update in the holiday month. The screenshots found in this article are also from the December update.
New Business
As for what’s in the update, the Darnell Bros Garment Factory is a front for a new business of yours. An ex-FIB officer and Pavel will help you turn the location “into a hive for clandestine infiltration operations where you can launch a bevy of thrilling and strategic new robberies.” Rockstar say you will access them through the computer from within the factory or by a brand new app on your in-game phone.
Other New Content
The December update will also feature new vehicles, new upgrades for your Benefactor Terrorbyte (such as a Collectible Scanner to help pinpoint a wide range of treasures whenever they are in close proximity), Job Creator updates and additional Dispatch Work missions.
Community Challenges will also continue. The next one will take place this month according to Rockstar. No date has been given just yet but we’ll post it on our site when it has been confirmed. If the GTA Online community is successful like always, the rewards will be given out as part of the December update.
Gameplay Improvements
It’s not just new content coming to GTA Online but general improvements. Rockstar say that there will be “many more updates and enhancements on the way”. An example given is Armor stock automatically refilling when launching missions. Plus, GTA+ members will see even more updates to The Vinewood Club. Some examples given are the ability to access Hao’s Special Works, Benny’s Original Motorworks, and Drift upgrades inside The Vinewood Car Club Garage’s Vehicle Workshop.
PC Finally Gets Enhanced
Rockstar sign off on their Newswire post by teasing there is always more still to come for GTA Online before GTA 6 arrives. Alongside the usual event weeks, festive celebrations and gifts, there will be surprises.
The PC version of GTA V is finally getting the various current gen features only found on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. For those that need a refresher, the new console versions of GTA Online have Hao’s Special Works Auto Shop, GTA+, certain vehicles, ray tracing, career builder and more. This update will arrive in “the new year” so early 2025. Rockstar note more details will come via their Newswire.
