Rockstar Games released a new update for GTA Online on Wednesday October 22nd and the patch notes have frustrated fans. This is the first downloadable patch since the Money Fronts update back in June. We’ve seen plenty of background updates (patches that don’t require a download) since the DLC’s release but this one is a bit different.
Where the background updates, for the most part, covered all platforms this new patch is only for the PS5 version GTA V. It is not going to release for PC, Xbox or even PS4. The issues it addresses are PS5 specific problems.
The update comes in at around 692mb so not a big download. It’s version number is 1.009.001. It also launched alongside a new PS5 system software update which is version 25.07-12.20.00.
Patch Notes
Rockstar Games published the patch notes for this update on their support website. You can view them below:
General
- General fixes for stability and security
So if you’re wondering why you had to update GTA V on PS5 that’s it. Seriously. This is up there as one of the most vague and unhelpful patch notes of all time. Fans have taken to social media to express their annoyance with these patch notes. It is unknown what these “General fixes for stability and security” are! At least, in theory, the game now runs better and is more protected.
As for what else is going on in GTA Online, October is a very busy month. Once you’ve downloaded this update, you can go back to looking for UFOs and Ghosts or any of the other Halloween content. You can check out what’s happening in GTA Online during this Event Week here.
