Rockstar Games have released a new background patch for GTA Online. This small one fixes a few glitches doing the rounds including one relating to the latest content drop: Stoner Survival. This was a new, limited timed mode released last week to celebrate 420 and offer themed rewards. They have also disabled a few in-game events.
For those unaware, background updates fix issues without need to download an update. It is all handled server side. The next time you play GTA Online, the below changes will have been made.
Patch Notes
The recent background update details from Tuesday April 22nd come from the ever reliable community insider Tex2. He shared patch notes of the background update on Twitter. Below are all of the known changes:
- Fixes an issue that resulted in players being unable to jump or climb after leaving Stoner Survival
- Patches “Speedo Custom God Mode” glitch workaround
- Patches “Facility Heist” money glitch workaround
Additionally, Rockstar Games have disabled the Halloween weather effect that they turned on last Thursday for the 420 event week. Fans were quite annoyed having to deal with the dark green/orange haze from 7pm and 7:30am in-game time. Whilst fans could use a glitch to disable the weather effect as we show here, not everyone
They’ve also disabled the seasonal events such Possessed Animals, Halloween Slashers, the Yeti and Gooch. It is still unknown if these events were enabled on purpose or on accident. If it was the latter, it took them a few days to do anything about it

Halloween slashers should be in the game all year long in one form or another, like a random serial killer, a Matrix style agent, a John wick assassin. Giving them the ability to climb walls and ladders would add to the danger.

Halloween weather and events are kind of fun. I don’t like that it remains on indoors, particularly in enclosed spaces and garages. It eliminates the ability to mod cars, since you can’t see the colours properly
