The iconic voice and character that is Lazlow claims he probably won’t be in GTA 6. Despite being a writer, actor and producer for nearly 20 years at Rockstar Games, it looks like his final GTA outing will have been GTA V and GTA Online.
Lazlow first graced GTA players’ ears in GTA III as a writer and host of Chatterbox FM. He later worked on all of the radio stations in GTA Vice City and continued larger contributions with each subsequent game. This includes being the NPC host of Fame or Shame in GTA V’s Story Mode. He also made outings in GTA Online DLC and did work on other Rockstar Games titles such as Red Dead Redemption 2.
However, there was a shock announcement in 2020. Lazlow Jones left Rockstar just weeks after co-founder Dan Houser did. His departure was put down to personal reasons which were discussed by himself here.
Since then, he has co-founded a new game studio and multimedia company with Houser: Absurd Ventures. The duo are releasing their first co-written comic book series together titled American Caper. It is out this November and you can read more about it here.

Lazlow Jones Talks GTA 6
Despite leaving Rockstar in 2020 and during the production of GTA 6, fans had wondered if he will be in the game. After all, he spent a couple of years working on it likely as a writer and audio producer. Well, the man himself has basically put a rest to any speculation.
He did an interview with YouTube channel Nerd Reactor this week, spotted by VideoGamer, where he was asked if he was in GTA VI. Lazlow made it clear: “Well, we left in 2020, so I doubt it. I loved working on those games with Dan and I was on the radio in GTA 3 and all the GTAs after that, and it was an amazing journey, working on GTA for 20 years. Dan worked on it for 22 years. But what’s really exciting is the creative team and some others who were there for two decades have all come to Absurd Ventures. It’s got creative vibe and grit that reminds me of those early years at Rockstar.”
Given how iterative the game development process is, this makes sense. Work Lazlow did in 2018-2020 on GTA VI might have undergone major reworks or completely removed from the game given it will have been from 6+ years before it released.
Just this week, Absurd found a publisher for their upcoming open world game. You can find out more here including a statement from Dan Houser.
