GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 see some interesting sales figures in October. The games took on blockbuster games like Call of Duty Black Ops 6 and yet they held onto places or even improved. Sony and UK chart data has just been released showing where Rockstar’s titles such as GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 placed in September.
Interesting changes
PlayStation have shared their monthly game charts on PS5, PS4, PSVR and F2P games for October this week. During the month, it was the 5th most downloaded PS5 game. This is up a place from September.
Meanwhile it lost a place in the North American chart. We saw it in 7th place last month but now it is 8th. It is interesting to see the difference in these two charts. Usually they are both either equal or within a place of each other. They also go down or up together, not the opposite. October saw the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, the Silent Hill 2 remake and more.
As for the PS4 charts, the game kept its places in both charts. It holds 6th position in the USA/Canada and Europe for a second month in a row despite Black Ops 6. October was a decent content month for GTA Online with all of the Halloween events so that will have helped it out.
Red Dead Redemption 2 goes up a bit
Red Dead Redemption 2 also saw some improvement. Last month, Rockstar’s epic western was the 4th most downloaded PS4 game in the US and Canada but it moved up to 3rd in October. It stayed in 5th place for a second month in the row for Europe.
GTA V loses places in disc and digital sales
The monthly UK games charts are also in for October. According to the data given out by GSD via gamesindustry.biz, GTA V remained the 7th best selling game in the region for 2 months in a row. This all disc and digital sales combined.
As mentioned above, October saw the launch of a few big games like Black Ops 6 so this is good news for GTA V. GTA Online’s standalone version exited the top 10 and Red Dead 2 did not chart in the top 10 once again.
Let’s turn our attention to the monthly digital and physical charts for Europe. As reported by gamesindustry.biz, GTA V was the 8th best selling game across Europe in September. This is down from 7nd place in September.
Red Dead Redemption launched on PC at the end of October. It’s sales won’t be fully known until next month. In other sales news, GTA V has now surpassed 205 million copies sold say Take-Two. Plus, Red Dead 2 has reached 67 million sales. Learn more about the past quarter of Rockstar’s financials here.
