GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 continue to do battle with plenty of newer game releases and other older titles that have blown up again. We’ve just received the chart data for April 2024.
It paints a slightly better picture for both Red Dead Redemption 2 and Grand Theft Auto V compared to March. They had a record breaking year last year which is a tough act to follow. Last month saw Red Dead 2 top the charts but that has dropped a bit.
PlayStation downloads regain
PlayStation released their monthly game charts for PS5, PS4, PSVR and F2P games this week. GTA V took off once again securing second place in the European chart. This is up from 7th position last month. In the USA and Canada it also saw a jump.

Back in March it came in 13th place but for April it rose to 6th. This is quite impressive considering the release of Stellar Blade, continued growth of Helldivers 2, release of Xbox title Sea of Thieves and more.
As for the PS4 chart, it was a similar story. In March, GTA V was in 9th place in Europe and 11th in North America. Whereas April saw it rise from those to 7th and 9th respectively. This is all despite a fairly quieter month in regards to GTA Online.
Red Dead Redemption 2 maintains strong position
Red Dead Redemption 2 was the most PS4 downloaded game in the US/Canada and Europe throughout February but in March it slipped to 2nd in the North American chart and 3rd in Europe. Then in April it kept the exact same position which is good news for fans of the series. Where Fallout 4 blew up and took the top spot, Red Dead Redemption 2 beat Minecraft who was the previous champ.

UK charts go up
The monthly UK games charts are in for April. According to the data given out by GSD via gamesindustry.biz, GTA V was the 5th best selling game when all disc and digital sales were combined. This is up- from 8th position. Red Dead Redemption 2 meanwhile re-joined the top 10 after one month out; it came into 7th place during April. Speaking of the UK, almost half of gamers over the age of 18 in the UK are looking to buy GTA 6.
