Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2 have one again continued their strong start in 2023 in terms of sales and downloads. New reports with verified data shows these two titles from Rockstar Games just keep on going despite their age and brand new blockbuster releases. We’re three months into the year now and the two titles are hanging on in the charts.
Sony reveals GTA V is keeping up
PlayStation released their monthly game charts for PS5, PS4, PSVR and F2P games on Monday. After becoming runner up in Europe and third place in USA/Canada last month, GTA 5 has dropped a little. It ended March in 3rd place for Europe. It dropped a place due to the release of the highly anticipated Resident Evil 4 Remake. You can play as CJ from GTA San Andreas in the RE4 remake and here’s how. It moved down to 6th place in the USA and Canada last month.
As for the PS4 chart, in February it was in 7th and 6th position but in March it has moved down to 8th and 7th place. The PS4 positions are on a continuous downwards trajectory due to far more PS5 stock being made available in the last couple of months. Plenty of players who have upgraded their consoles will want to take advantage of the powerful hardware and play the next gen version of GTA V and GTA Online.
We can also see how Red Dead Redemption 2 is doing in March as well. It has stayed above GTA V in both the US/Canada and European charts for the last two months. In the previous monthly charts for February, the game was in 4th and 5th place. March saw it take 8th and 7th position. Red Dead 2 can only be counted in the PS4 chart as there is only a PS4 version. It appears Red Dead 2’s rise in downloads has peaked and has begun dropping again.
UK Chart Placements

The report explains how Hogwarts Legacy has been the fastest-selling game that isn’t FIFA or Call of Duty since Red Dead Redemption 2. The PS5 has also been widely available in the region for the last two months.
As for specifics on Rockstar titles, GTA V was the 5th best selling game in the UK for March 2023 behind Hogwarts Legacy, WWE 2K23, FIFA 23 and the Resident Evil 4 Remake. This is down a place from last month. Red Dead Redemption 2 has remained in the top 10 again as well. It was the 8th best selling game last month; down from 6th place in the previous month.
