GTA San Andreas will be departing Netflix this month the company have announced.
The all-time classic has been playable on iOS and Android devices for anyone with an active Netflix subscription since December 2023. Now after 2 years and tens of millions of downloads, CJ’s story will no longer be playable with Netflix and people will be disappointed.
GTA San Andreas has been a staggering success for Netflix. Whilst the company has stopped putting out figures themselves, Appmagic via Mobilegamer.biz are reporting over 57.4 million people downloaded GTA San Andreas via Netflix on iOS and Android. That is mightily impressive for game over 20 years old. Netflix games as a whole have reached almost 400m million downloads with GTA SA making up the biggest portion.
The GTA Trilogy debuted on Netflix two years ago but GTA III and GTA Vice City left this time last year. Only San Andreas remained as Netflix got a contract extension for it. We speculated it would last another year. Now we know that was indeed the case.

The recent news was spotted on Netflix’s website by What’s On Netflix. According to the streaming service, the last day to play is Friday December 12th. This comes just as Red Dead Redemption joins Netflix and is proving to be popular at least in the first day.
It is possible to purchase GTA San Andreas for a fee on iOS and Android if you miss playing it on your mobile device. Unfortunately, you cannot transfer your save from the Netflix version to paid version.
Both GTA III and GTA Vice City for mobile are now accessible with a GTA+ membership. Now we have San Andreas exiting Netflix, I’d suspect Rockstar will add it to GTA+ in the coming months.
Let us know down in the comments if you’ve checked out these mobile versions on Netflix. Stay tuned to RockstarINTEL for every news update on the GTA series including GTA 6 and GTA Online.
