GTA 6 will be “amazing” according to the CEO of Rockstar Games‘ parent company, Take-Two Interactive. On Monday morning, Take Two CEO Strauss Zelnick made an appearance on CNBC.
We typically see Strauss on TV the following business day or so after following Take-Two’s earnings reports so this is not out of the ordinary. We’ll be taking a look at the more interesting comments made by the CEO in this TV interview.
GTA 6 Release Date Confidence
The CNBC host said there is a lot of talk about GTA 6 to which Zelnick responded with “I’m happy there is. We had 475 million views in 24 hours for trailer 2. Setting a new record, breaking the internet. These are good things.”
As for the game’s delay from Fall 2025 to May 2026, Zelnick once again commented on the matter when asked if it will release on time. He told CNBC “My level of conviction is very, very high obviously.”
Rockstar Are Busy

Next up, Strauss was quizzed on how much of Rockstar Games as a whole company is working on GTA VI. As we’ve known for quite some time now, almost everyone is busy on the project outside of GTA Online and the small work required to maintain other games such as Red Dead Online. Zelnick told CNBC that “Rockstar does have a lot of other things going on but this of course is the primary focus.”
It has been rumoured Rockstar will be putting out a Red Dead Redemption 2 port for the Nintendo Switch 2 and even a next-gen re-release of the game. Plus, a GTA IV port for modern hardware is also in the works.
Meeting Expectations
Lastly, Mr Zelnick was asked if he ever worries about the great expectations people have for GTA VI. He thought that was a great question and that Take-Two never try to “pump” expectations.
This was followed up by the CEO saying “Rockstar’s whole stock and trade is to have these extraordinary expectations and still to beat them. I know that’s their goal, I know it’s going to be an amazing game. The rest we’ll see in the fullness of time.”
In other GTA 6 news, long-time writer and actor Lazlow says he doubts he will be in GTA 6 despite working on it for a few years.
