Rockstar Games have just called GTA 6 “the largest game launch in history” in an statement placed in an unexpected location. It has been several months since the company last mentioned the game at all. This was back in May when the second trailer was released. Since then, fans have been clamouring for absolutely anything about the game. Now we finally have something albeit minor.
For the first time, the company have officially acknowledged the game in a job listing on their website. This might not seem like a big deal but for years now fans on social media have been posting job listing descriptions as “proof” of Rockstar beginning to market GTA 6 or “confirm” features which is not really the case. They’re almost always vague and have not previously mentioned GTA VI at all.
Here at RockstarINTEL, we only report on job listings that have something tangible which is rare. This is one of those infrequent cases.
Spotted by Reddit user Consistent-Ad-7455, a new job listing for a Lead Software Engineer in Data Engineering mentions GTA 6. The role is at Rockstar’s NYC office. In the third paragraph it says “With the continued growth of Grand Theft Auto Online and the upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto 6, the successful candidate will lead both the evolution and operation of the data platform supporting what will be the largest game launch in history, ensuring it scales to deliver an exceptional experience for millions of players worldwide.“
UPDATE 5pm BST: Rockstar have now removed such wording and any mention of GTA 6.

This is quite surprising on a few fronts. Firstly, it is the first acknowledgement of the game in months by Rockstar and the first time on a job listing. Secondly, it calls the game “Grand Theft Auto 6” when the real name, used only by Rockstar in their official materials aside from this has been “Grand Theft Auto VI”.
This is most likely a mistake from the recruiter who wrote this job listing. Also, it specifically states GTA VI’s launch will be the biggest ever in video game history. Rockstar calling it that themselves publicly is interesting.
Of course, this is hardly surprising. We’ve known for some time now that Rockstar Games’ parent company, Take-Two Interactive, know it is the most anticipated game ever. Take-Two said anticipation for this game is far greater than GTA V. Take-Two even went bigger in May calling GTA VI “the most anticipated entertainment property of all time.” Time will tell if Rockstar can deliver these unprecedented expectations.
In other recent GTA 6 news, a data firm claims GTA 6 will “reshape” the console business. Plus, some of the humorous in-game websites were leaked by Take-Two themselves. Check them out here.
